I have never, in all my many years of vintage shipping seen this volume of great quality vintage in one place at the same time.

Pear mill is a huge (and I do mean HUGE, vast, massive) Victorian cotton mill just outside Stockport Town Centre (if you’re from the Manchester area you will be familiar with the terrifying Portwood roundabout – it’s not far from there), home to dozens of businesses and best of all two floors of vintage including furniture, clothing, homeware, art, books, toys and all manner of interesting objects. We first visited when only the downstairs portion was open and clothing outweighed furniture but now the second floor is open and the space (which is honestly around the size of two football pitches) is stuffed with beautiful vintage furniture and homeware. From industrial and mid-century through to great quality dressers and church pews there is something for everyone.
Prices aren’t rock bottom however you are, in most cases, paying less than you would for Ikea pieces and bagging personality and quirky features on top.
Photos (nor video – see below) can’t convey quite how vast this place really is but if you’re in the North West of England then I heartily recommend driving over and having a look. They even have a cafe to quench your thirst when you’re exhausted from shopping.
Stockport is becoming a bit of a hub for vintage here in the North West, with Vintage Village running once a month, various vintage shops springing up around the market place and lots of great mini festivals popping up here and there. Pear Mill is certainly a jewel in Stockport’s crown and one I urge you to visit, it is a great way to spend a couple of hours and a fantastic place to talk to fellow old junk enthusiasts.
